The Supreme Court has unanimously approved the updated Supreme Court Rules 2025 during a short full court meeting on Friday.
The court also conferred the prestigious title of senior advocate of the Supreme Court on Muhammad Munir Paracha.
According to an official statement, the new rules were updated to enhance convenience for litigants and streamline judicial procedures. The revision was based on recommendations by the Rules Committee, headed by Justice Shahid Waheed.
Justice Irfan Saadat Khan and Justice Naeem Afghan were also members of the committee, which received appreciation from the full court for its extensive work.
Committee reviewed Rules of 1980, 2025
The announcement noted that the Rules Committee conducted a complete review of the Supreme Court Rules 1980 and 2025, ensuring that the new framework reflects modern judicial needs.
The updated rules include suggestions to eliminate procedural obstacles, while new provisions aim to improve judicial performance and enhance case management.
