Saudi Arabia is set to host a US-Saudi investment summit in Washington on 19 November, coinciding with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s official visit to the United States.
The event aims to strengthen business ties between the two nations, with possible attendance from President Donald Trump and the crown prince.
The crown prince will meet President Trump at the White House on 18 November. The investment summit will take place the following day at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, co-hosted by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Investment and the US-Saudi Business Council.
While Trump and bin Salman may make appearances, neither is officially listed on the summit’s programme, according to a source familiar with the planning. The event is being organized on the sidelines of the official visit.
Focus on economic and defense ties
The summit comes amid efforts to expand US-Saudi economic cooperation and explore a potential defense agreement between the two nations. Saudi Arabia remains one of the largest buyers of US arms, and discussions during the visit could include further strengthening military partnerships.
Additionally, Trump is reportedly encouraging Saudi Arabia to join the Abraham Accords, which normalize relations between Israel and several Muslim-majority countries, potentially signaling broader diplomatic and economic cooperation.
Strategic importance of summit
Officials have emphasized that the investment summit provides a platform for US and Saudi business leaders to discuss trade, investments, and economic collaboration.
While not part of the official itinerary for Trump or bin Salman, the event underscores the importance of private-sector engagement alongside diplomatic talks.
