The 27th constitutional amendment, approved by the Senate, has been tabled in the National Assembly and is expected to receive approval tomorrow (Wednesday).
Federal Minister for Health Mustafa Kamal has made it clear that the 25th Amendment may also be presented soon. The bill for the 27th Amendment was introduced during a session of the National Assembly, presided over by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. Minister for Law, Azam Nazeer Tarar, moved the motion to present the amendment. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf members raised slogans in protest during the proceedings.
Federal Minister for Health, Mustafa Kamal, said that proposals comprising the 25th Amendment would soon be presented in the House, as certain party objections had prevented their inclusion in the 27th Amendment.
Minister of State for Finance, Bilal Azhar Kiani, said the amendment aims primarily to strengthen defence and governance. During the session, prayers were offered for the late Senator Irfan Siddiqui. The National Assembly will reconvene tomorrow at 11 a.m.
