Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, aged 89, has been hospitalised at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, sparking concern among fans and colleagues.
According to family sources, the actor is stable and under observation following treatment for respiratory complications.
Family members and leading Bollywood personalities, including Hema Malini, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol’s wife Tanya Deol, Shah Rukh Khan, and Salman Khan, were seen visiting the actor at the hospital on Monday.
Rumours of the veteran actor being on life support circulated on social media earlier, but his family quickly dismissed them as false and exaggerated.
In an official statement shared with the media, Dharmendra’s family said, “Mr Dharmendra is stable and under observation. Further comments and updates will be shared as available. We request everyone to pray for his speedy recovery and respect the family’s privacy.”
Family sources revealed that Dharmendra was initially admitted for a routine check-up on October 31, but doctors advised him to remain under close medical supervision for further evaluation.
Hema Malini thanks fans for prayers
Actor and politician Hema Malini, Dharmendra’s wife, addressed growing public concern by posting an update on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter). She wrote: “I thank everyone for their concern about Dharam ji, who is in hospital for observation. He is being continuously monitored, and we are all with him. I request you all to pray for his welfare and speedy recovery.”
Along with her message, Hema Malini shared a throwback picture of Dharmendra, capturing his iconic smile, which fans flooded with messages of love and support.

Earlier this month, when reporters asked her about Dharmendra’s health, she had gestured reassuringly, saying he was doing fine, and thanked everyone for their concern.
Sunny Deol, family members visit Breach Candy Hospital
Dharmendra’s son Sunny Deol was among the first to arrive at the hospital, accompanied by his sons Karan and Rajveer Deol. The trio maintained a low profile as paparazzi captured them entering the hospital premises.
According to videos shared by local photographers, Sunny Deol appeared visibly tense as he sat in the car’s front seat, while Karan Deol, seated in the back, was seen checking his phone.
Bobby Deol’s wife, Tanya Deol, also visited the hospital separately to check on her father-in-law’s condition.

A number of prominent Bollywood personalities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Ameesha Patel, were spotted visiting Breach Candy Hospital to inquire about Dharmendra’s health.

Shah Rukh Khan made a late-night visit, with visuals showing him leaving the hospital after meeting the Deol family. Salman Khan also paid a visit later in the evening.
Their visits came shortly after Hema Malini was seen entering the hospital earlier in the day, further confirming that Dharmendra was under continuous observation.
Punjab minister extends wishes for recovery
In Chandigarh, Punjab minister Harpal Singh Cheema extended his heartfelt wishes for Dharmendra’s recovery. Speaking to IANS, he said: “I pray to Guru Sahib that he recovers soon, regains his health, and returns to his family. May he continue to play, laugh, and perform his acting roles that are admired worldwide.”
Hospital sources told IANS that Dharmendra remains in a stable but closely monitored condition, with specialists overseeing his respiratory care. While the exact cause of illness remains undisclosed, doctors are ensuring comprehensive treatment.
Earlier, the actor’s team had clarified that there was no cause for alarm, saying, “He visits the hospital often for routine medical tests. It seems that someone spotted him there, which led to unnecessary panic among fans.”
Dharmendra’s upcoming project
On the work front, Dharmendra will next appear in Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming film Ikkis, which also stars Agastya Nanda and Jaideep Ahlawat in lead roles.
The veteran actor, often referred to as the He-Man of Bollywood, continues to enjoy immense love from generations of fans for his six-decade-long contribution to Indian cinema.
