Unidentified armed men opened fire outside the house of Pakistan cricketer Naseem Shah in the Hajiabad area of Lower Dir late last night, police officials confirmed on Monday.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 1:45am, when unidentified attackers fired multiple shots at the main gate of cricketer Naseem Shah’s house, leaving visible bullet holes in it. They said the gunmen fled the scene immediately after the firing. Law enforcement teams reached the location shortly after receiving the report and cordoned off the area.
“Evidence has been collected from the scene, and a case has been registered against unidentified suspects,” a police spokesperson said. The investigation is underway to determine the motive and identify those involved.
No injuries or property damage reported
Police officials stated that no loss of life or property damage occurred in the attack. However, the incident caused concern among local residents, prompting an immediate increase in security around the cricketer’s residence.
Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from the area to aid the investigation. Media reports quoted police as saying that five suspects were arrested.
The Lower Dir police stated that, based on the initial investigation, the attack does not appear to be an act of terrorism, but is likely linked to a land dispute or local enmity. Naseem Shah’s father met with Lower Dir District Police Officer (DPO) Taimur Khan, who assured him of swift action and the early arrest of those responsible.
