Train services from Balochistan have been suspended for four days due to security concerns, officials confirmed on Saturday.
According to the Railway Control Centre, all major passenger trains departing from Quetta will remain non-operational from November 9 to 12.
The suspension affects both the Peshawar-bound Jaffar Express and the Karachi-bound Bolan Mail, two of the most important inter-provincial rail services connecting Balochistan with the rest of the country.
Jaffar Express, Bolan Mail suspended
Railway officials stated that the Jaffar Express, which travels from Quetta to Peshawar, and the Bolan Mail, running between Quetta and Karachi, will be suspended between November 9 and November 12.
However, officials clarified that the Jaffar Express will depart for Peshawar as scheduled today (November 8) before the suspension period takes effect. The temporary halt is part of heightened security measures, as railway authorities coordinate with law enforcement agencies to ensure passenger safety.
Additional suspensions announced
Further updates from the Sibi Railway Control Centre indicate that the inter-provincial train service in Balochistan will also remain suspended on November 13.
This extension includes the continued suspension of both the Quetta–Peshawar Jaffar Express and the Quetta–Karachi Bolan Mail, emphasizing that train operations across Balochistan will remain disrupted beyond November 12 due to ongoing security assessments.
According to railway authorities, the decision was made to protect passengers and railway infrastructure following security alerts in the region. “Train services have been suspended purely due to security concerns,” a spokesperson from the Railway Control said, adding that normal operations will resume once clearance is received from relevant agencies.
