Pakistan fast bowler Irfan Junior has been banned for five matches in Australia after being found guilty of ball tampering, according to reports from Australian media.
The decision was announced by the Cricket Victoria tribunal, which ruled that Irfan had damaged the condition of the ball during a Victorian Premiership match. The disciplinary panel found sufficient evidence to impose the suspension, marking a serious breach of the sport’s code of conduct.
Tribunal finds Irfan guilty
Australian outlets reported that Irfan Junior was accused of deliberately altering the ball’s condition to gain an unfair advantage during the domestic fixture. After reviewing match footage and umpire reports, the tribunal determined that the Pakistani pacer had violated playing regulations regarding fair ball maintenance.
The verdict, delivered this week, led to the immediate five-match ban, which will apply to all Cricket Victoria-sanctioned competitions.
