Quetta Gladiators have become the first team to qualify for the playoffs of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 after defeating Islamabad United by 2 wickets in a thrilling encounter at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Quetta put Islamabad United to bat. United posted a competitive total of 157 runs for 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Mohammad Nawaz top-scored with a solid 49-run knock, while Saim Ayub contributed 39 runs.
For the Gladiators, Faheem Ashraf shone with the ball, claiming 4 crucial wickets to restrict United’s scoring.
Chasing a target of 158, Quetta Gladiators reached the target on the fifth ball of the final over, finishing at 159 for 8. Hasan Nawaz played a match-winning innings of 64 runs, supported by Rilee Rossouw (27) and Finn Allen (20), ensuring their team secured a hard-fought victory.
From Islamabad’s side, Naseem Shah and Salman Irshad picked up two wickets each, but their efforts weren’t enough to stop Quetta from clinching the win.
With this nail-biting victory, Quetta Gladiators became the first team to seal a spot in the PSL 10 playoffs.
