Senior PTI leader Taimur Saleem Jhagra has admitted that his relations with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur have not been good since the general elections last year.
Speaking on 'Nadeem Malik Live', he stated that he had not met the party’s founder, Imran Khan, after the elections, whereas Gandapur had. However, he claimed to have no knowledge of what transpired between them.
Rift with Ali Amin Gandapur
Jhagra addressed speculations regarding his exclusion from the provincial cabinet, stating that this question should be directed at Ali Amin Gandapur himself. He urged party members to focus on securing the release of Imran Khan instead of fueling internal disputes.
“The party’s goal should be to get the founder out of jail, not to create rifts. Party members should not wash their dirty laundry in public,” he emphasized.
Legal proceedings and election inquiry
Jhagra also discussed the ongoing legal matters surrounding PTI, expressing scepticism about fair proceedings. "If the meeting with the chief justice yields any positive results, that would be a good thing, but expecting fairness is difficult," he remarked.
"Can the Constitutional Bench decide these cases on merit?" he questioned.
He also called for an inquiry into the election results, particularly in constituencies where key PTI figures like Shaukat Yousafzai and Kamran Bangash faced defeat.
Appeal for party discipline
Reiterating his stance on party unity, Jhagra urged PTI members to refrain from making controversial statements against one another. “At this moment, the only objective should be to work towards the release of our leader. No one should be speaking against anyone,” he asserted.
Meanwhile, PPP leader Palwasha Khan said it had to be proven that rigging in the elections took place in all provinces except one - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. "If rigging also took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, then that government is also illegal," she remarked.
