Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that the Pakistan’s economic prosperity is directly tied to the complete eradication of terrorism.
According to details, in a cabinet meeting, he emphasised that the country must strive for peace and security to foster development and growth. The premier also referred to a recent visit by Turkiye’s president to Pakistan, acknowledging that Turkey had always stood by Pakistan.
He acknowledged Turkey's continued support for Pakistan's stance on Kashmir and Palestine, highlighting the longstanding brotherly relations between the two countries.
During the visit, several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements were signed, including a decision to increase bilateral trade to $5 billion.
Additionally, PM Shehbaz announced the inauguration of a flyover in Islamabad, which was named after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in honour of the strong ties between the two countries.
In a related development, a recent survey revealed that 55 per cent of Pakistanis rated the business environment positively, a significant improvement from the previous year, as per the Prime Minister’s statements.
He said: "In three to four months, the federal budget would be presented, and the government would continue its efforts to drive economic growth."
During the cabinet meeting, PM Shehbaz paid tribute to Lieutenant Hassan Ashraf, who had recently embraced martydom while combating the menace of terrorism.
He emphasised that such sacrifices should never be forgotten and reiterated that the complete elimination of terrorism remains a national mission.
PM Shehbaz said: "I had recently met with a World Bank delegation, who praised Pakistan’s economic reforms and its commitment to a reformative agenda."
He stated: "Despite the positive feedback, the government would continue to work harder to ensure that Pakistan secures its rightful place on the global stage."
