The Supreme Court Bar Association, Pakistan Bar Council, Punjab Bar Council, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Bar Council, Balochistan High Court Bar Association and Sindh High Court Bar Association issued a joint statement, rejecting the call for a strike.
The legal bodies reiterated their unwavering support for judicial independence, stating, "We, the elected representatives of the legal community, stand firmly with the independence of the judiciary." They further clarified their position, categorically dismissing the call for disruption during the Judicial Commission's meeting.
"We completely reject the call of disruptive elements," the statement emphasised.
The statement also condemned the actions of certain self-proclaimed troublemakers within the legal community, who, as per the statement, intended to create chaos for their personal agendas. "Some so-called mischief-makers in the legal community seek to create disorder for their ulterior motives," the statement read.
Reaffirming their commitment, the legal representatives declared their full support for the proceedings of the Judicial Commission. "We will fully support the actions of the Judicial Commission," they confirmed.
The bodies also clarified that the 26th constitutional amendment had been passed in accordance with the law. "The 26th Constitutional Amendment has been passed according to the law," the statement asserted.
The legal bodies firmly declared that only the elected legal entities have the authority to decide on any strike calls. "Only the elected legal bodies have the right to decide on strike calls," the statement outlined.
Concluding the joint statement, they strongly condemned any such strike attempts, asserting, "We strongly condemn such strikes, and like before, this strike will once again fail."
