The Lebanese Health Ministry reported that Israeli airstrikes on various towns and villages in southern Lebanon have resulted in the deaths of at least 182 individuals, with over 727 others injured.
Among the casualties are numerous women and children, as well as aid workers.
According to local sources, Israeli warplanes launched a series of attacks early Monday morning, targeting the eastern Bekaa Valley and southern regions, including the towns of Hermel, Zboud, and Harbata.
Al Jazeera reported extensive destruction in Tyre and Nabatieh, where footage shared on social media depicted billowing smoke clouds.
The Lebanese Health Ministry confirmed that the majority of the casualties are innocent civilians, and many of the injured are in critical condition. The fear of rising numbers is palpable, with several homes reported destroyed in the assaults.
The ministry's statement emphasised the indiscriminate nature of the bombardment, which has severely impacted civilian life in the targeted areas.
Evacuation warnings and psychological warfare
In a troubling development, the Israeli military sent text messages to Lebanese citizens, urging them to evacuate residences associated with Hezbollah. Reports indicate that over 80,000 suspected calls were made to residents, perceived as an attempt at psychological warfare, further exacerbating the already tense atmosphere.
