On behalf of the American people, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken extended warm wishes to Pakistan, highlighting the strong foundation of the US-Pakistan relationship, which has spanned 77 years.
"In the year ahead, we will deepen the US-Pakistan partnership and expand our people-to-people ties to build a more prosperous future for both our nations. We look forward to continuing a partnership that makes both countries more secure, as we strengthen our shared commitment to democratic principles and respect for the rule of law," he said further.
He said the shared history between the two countries was celebrated, with a focus on the partnership's future growth and the potential for even stronger ties.
In a separate statement, the US Consulate General in Karachi joined the American public in celebrating Pakistan's Independence Day, marking not only the country's 77th year of freedom but also 77 years of diplomatic relations between the United States and Pakistan.
The message emphasized the mutual goals of economic growth, shared prosperity, and regional stability that have defined the partnership over the decades.
US Congressman Pete Sessions of Texas also conveyed his best wishes to the Pakistani people on the occasion. In his message, he recognized the contributions of Pakistanis living in the United States, particularly in fields such as commerce, medicine, and technology.
Congressman Sessions highlighted the importance of the bilateral relationship between the two nations, emphasizing the interdependence of the U.S. and Pakistan for a better world.
He noted that August 14 is a day of celebration, honour, and pride not only for Pakistanis in Pakistan but also for those in the United States who continue to strengthen the ties between the two countries.
