According to prominent Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the tech giant plans to mass-produce these innovative AirPods by 2026. The new models will feature infrared camera modules akin to the Face ID technology found in iPhones.
Major Apple supplier Foxconn is expected to be the primary producer of these advanced components.
The inclusion of these cameras will enable more precise detection of environmental changes and head movements. For instance, users equipped with Vision Pro and the new AirPods could experience a heightened sense of spatial audio; as they turn their head, the audio source from that direction would be accentuated, creating a more immersive experience.
Spatial audio has become a hallmark of Apple's audio products, and this advancement could further solidify its position in the market. Currently, Apple Music's spatial audio is a major selling point, and these new features could expand the technology's applications.
Although details remain scarce, it is unclear whether the new infrared cameras will exclusively benefit users of the Vision Pro or if they will enhance audio experiences independently.
