Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) have begun the consultation over a potential ban on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and actions under Article 6 against Imran Khan, Arif Alvi, and Qasim Suri.
Sources revealed that the delegation from the PPP has urged the government to consider the future implications of such decisions carefully. The Attorney General provided a detailed briefing on the case and specific seat decisions during the session.
The legal team of the PML-N sought to build confidence with the PPP concerning their decisions related to PTI. The Law Minister and the Attorney General highlighted the legal aspects of banning PTI.
However, the PPP's legal team expressed reservations about the potential future repercussions of these decisions. They emphasized the need for thorough consultation and consensus before any public announcements.
The PPP delegation insisted that the PML-N must take the PPP into confidence before making any critical decisions. They stressed the importance of party consultation and consensus, cautioning against unilateral decisions by the government.
Both parties expressed mutual concern over PTI's recent conduct. The meeting, which lasted approximately one and a half hours, was attended by key government and party figures including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Ahad Cheema, Irfan Qadir, Information Minister Ataullah Tarar, Farooq H. Naik, Senator Sherry Rehman, and Attorney General Mansoor Awan.
The discussions are ongoing, with both major parties aiming to navigate the legal and political complexities of the situation while maintaining unity among the coalition partners.
