Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said on Monday an effective action plan, devised in collaboration with the federal government, will put an end to the enduring issue of load shedding in the province.
During a press conference held alongside Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Federal Minister for Energy Owais Leghari, the KP CM acknowledged the severity of load shedding in KP.
"We are proud that our province produces electricity, but we know that load shedding is a major problem for our people," said Chief Minister Gandapur. "We have tried to find a solution together and have decided to work jointly to address this issue."
The Chief Minister emphasized that all institutions will work together to find a solution, and plans are underway to promote the use of solar energy. "We want to lead our people towards a solar system, free from the woes of load shedding," he said.
Energy Minister Leghari highlighted the importance of putting aside political differences to address the issue. "Despite having different political agendas, we talked together and found a solution," he said.
"The Interior Minister played an important role in facilitating this meeting, and we have created a model together to reduce electricity theft."
The model created in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be replicated in other provinces, leading to improved electricity management and reduced theft. "Today, Tehreek-e-Insaf, Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) , and other parties have taken a big step together, which will lead the country to better conditions," said Energy Minister Leghari.
Chief Minister Gandapur also addressed the issue of law and order, which has been affected by load shedding. "We have found a way to give relief to our people, and we will work together to address the causes of line losses," he said.
Federal Minister for Energy Owais Leghari underscored the initiative as a testament to the ability of Pakistani politicians to collaborate beyond political divides.
He expressed hope that this model would be replicated in other provinces to combat electricity theft and reduce line losses.
Additionally, the Chief Minister announced a community-based program aimed at educating MNAs, MPs, and the public about the potential to eliminate load shedding through fair financial recovery.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the joint effort, noting that the federal and provincial governments had embarked on this initiative with positive intent, addressing a common national problem.
