Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has made it clear that the province will not compromise on its rights and resources.
Speaking to the media outside the Prime Minister's House, he emphasized his opposition to the imposition of taxes on the former FATA and PATA regions and demanded the immediate release of federal funds owed to the province.
During the follow-up meeting, the chief minister highlighted the ongoing utilisation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's resources for national purposes. He stressed that while the province’s resources are being used for the benefit of Pakistan, it is imperative that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa receives its fair share in return.
Gandapur also expressed his willingness to welcome foreign investment, indicating that it could play a significant role in the province's development.
He assured that he attended the meeting to represent the interests of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including addressing the tax issues in FATA. He noted that assurances were made to address these concerns.
The CM pointed out the province’s contributions to providing affordable electricity through hydraulic projects, underlining the importance of giving relief to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He stated that if the province’s dues are not paid, it would be an injustice to the people.
Gandapur reiterated that the budget had been presented in the best possible way, providing much-needed relief to the people. He mentioned his frustration at not being called to earlier meetings, labeling it an abuse of his position.
He also announced the creation of a provincial mining company, reflecting the government’s vision and capability to manage resources effectively. He expressed concern over the economic damage caused by halted trade with Afghanistan and highlighted the need for constructive dialogue on this issue.
Regarding internal political matters, the Chief Minister mentioned ongoing discussions about the PTI founder, indicating that better results would soon be achieved. He also criticised the behavior of the Punjab government, accusing them of tarnishing their administration’s reputation.
