Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has claimed that the government has taken measures to reduce inflation, which is on a gradual decline.
The premier said this while speaking at a meeting of the federal cabinet he chaired on Thursday where various critical issues pertaining to security, economy, and judicial matters were discussed.
Addressing the nation's security concerns, Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the safety of Chinese authorities working in Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of collaboration with the Chinese ambassador to ensure the security of Chinese workers and engineers.

He also recalled his recent visit to Dasu along with the Chinese ambassador, where he also met with the Chinese workers working on a dam.
Furthermore, PM Sharif acknowledged the challenges faced by passengers at Lahore airport and highlighted ongoing efforts to improve airport services through the outsourcing process. He stressed the importance of attracting foreign investors to Pakistan and expressed optimism regarding the implementation of the privatization schedule for PIA, which was released recently.
He further acknowledged the potential of the IT sector, adding that the government was working on other sectors also. He also hoped consultants will be appointed this month.
In terms of economic policies, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif discussed measures taken to minimize the burden on the poor and reduce inflation. He acknowledged the challenges posed by the terms of the IMF's new program would not be easy, but expressed confidence that it would improve the economy.
"Another IMF program is necessary for us. We have taken measures to reduce inflation, and inflation is gradually decreasing. Economically, wherever there are problems, we try to solve them as soon as possible. A detailed meeting was held yesterday with the ministers regarding the economy," the prime minister explained.
Turning to judicial matters, Prime Minister Sharif addressed the issue of judges receiving suspicious letters, stressing there will be a thorough investigation into the matter and urging against politicizing the matter. "We should show full responsibility on this matter," Shehbaz insisted.
He underscored the government's responsibility in ensuring transparency and accountability in the issue of the letter written by six judges of the Islamabad High Court, recalling the formation of an inquiry commission in accordance with the directives of the Supreme Court.
"We fulfilled our responsibility on the issue. The Supreme Court took suo motu notice of the letter," he recalled.
The federal cabinet also granted approval to its six-point agenda. The meeting decided to appoint a new president of SME Bank, while an economic policy statement was also presented in the meeting. It also approved the receiving of a foreign award by former naval chief Admiral Amjad Niazi.
The meeting also considered forming an inquiry commission on the death of Shahbaz Shabbir in police custody, as well as appointment of members of the National Commission for Women.
