International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has said that the organization is only asking Pakistan to tax the rich and protect the poor.
After a meeting with caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly summit, the IMF MD told the media that this was what the people of Pakistan also wanted.

In a post on his X account, the interim PM termed the meeting with the IMF head constructive, and said the two sides discussed the efforts for economic cooperation and stability.
He said that in the meeting, both sides reiterated their determination to take measures for economic development and stability.

On the other hand, Bill Gates, the co-chairman of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, also met with caretaker PM Kakar in New York.
In the meeting, the two discussed issues related to polio eradication in Pakistan, gender equality and child development.
On the occasion, Kakar expressed optimism that stopping poliovirus transmission in every area of the country remained possible this year. He said the caretaker government of Pakistan and the National Polio Task Force were determined to eradicating polio from the entire country.

He said Pakistan was determined to preventing the transmission of polio virus, while immunization and other essential health services were being provided to the people.
During the meeting, Bill Gates said the complete elimination of polio from Pakistan was their first priority with particular interest in stopping cross-border transmission with Afghanistan and continuing vaccination campaigns in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
