QUETTA: At least 70 persons, including SAMAA cameraman and reporter have been killed and over 120 persons sustained injuries in two successive powerful blasts on Almadar Road in Quetta, SAMAA reported on Thursday.
According to initial reports, one after the other repeated blasts occurred on Alamdar Road in Quetta, leaving over 70 persons killed and over 120 others injured.
SAMAA cameraman Imran Sheikh embraced martyrdom while Engineer Jamil Ahmad and Senior Reporetr Saif-ur-Rehman sustained injuries in powerful blasts.
Immediately after blasts, SAMAA reporter Saif-ur-Rehman went missing for a couple of hours but later on, he was traced in critically injured condition at CMH. Later on, Saif-ur-Rehman succumbed to injuries in hospital.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the blast site immediately after receiving information. Dead bodies and injured were moved to Quetta’s Civil Hospital while Police have cordoned off the blast site.
Local administration has imposed emergency in Civil Hospital and other key hospitals of Quetta. It is feared that the death toll may mount further, as many injured are in critical condition.
Police SP, Khalid Masood, 1 DSP, SHO, few police constables and many Edhi volunteers also embraced martyrdom in lethal attack. Many Edhi ambulances damaged in the incident.
SAMAA DSNG and nearby parked other vehicles along with close houses and shops also damaged badly in lethal blasts in key city of Balochistan.
One blast took place underground in a local snooker club and second in a vehicle parked outside the club, informed some eyewitnesses from the blast site. Police have said that this was a suicide attack.
Some furious people present near the site opened aerial firing after the blasts to express their anger over the attack.
Total 81 persons killed and 121 sustained injuries in Almdar Road blasts, confirmed the CCPO of Quetta, saying the first one was a suicide blast.
Prime Minister Raja Parvez Ashraf has taken notice of blats and killings in Quetta. He has expressed sorrow over people’s deaths and condoled SAMAA cameraman’s martyrdom in the incident. He has instructed the concerned authorities to provide best available medical assistance to the blast victims. SAMAA
