KARACHI: At least seven people, including cousin of Sindh Information Minister, were killed in different incidents of firing and violence in Karachi, SAMAA reported.
Police said Javed Aziz Memon, the cousin of Sharjeel Memon, was targeted by armed men who intercepted his vehicle near Habaib Bank Chowrangi in SITE area and fired shots on it.
Javed Memon was killed on the spot. He was manager of a private bank in Karachi.
Meanwhile, IG Sindh formulated a three-member committee to probe into the murder of Sindh Information Minister’s cousin, ordering it to report within three days.
Other firing incident took place in Jamshed Road, Korangi, Lyari and Orangi areas where six people, including two policemen, lost their lives.
According to police sources, two policemen, identified as constable Naeem and Rizwan, were shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Banaras Bridge.
Sources said that both policemen were going with a van of post office, carrying cash money, and were killed as the gunmen opened fire on them, looted money and fled from the scene.
In Lyari, a man, Zafar Qadri, was gunned down while his brother Nafees injured in a firing incident that took place at Mirza Adam Khan Road.
Another man was killed in Hassan Goth area of Korangi. A tortured body of a man was found from Fishery area.
Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Police arrested 17 suspected persons belonging to a banned terrorist outfit from different parts of the city. - SAMAA
