KARACHI: Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) on Tuesday gave a strike call for Wednesday after an armed attack on Allama Orangzeb Farooqi, in which his two personal guards and four policemen were killed.
Allama Orangzeb Farooqi was also injured in the ambush.
According to police, six to eight gunmen ambushed Allama Farooqui’s vehicle and his security guards in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
Tension gripped Nagin Chowrangi, Nazimabad, New Karachi, Akhtar Colony, New Town, Orangi Town and other areas. Protesters staged a sit-in on Shar-e-Faisal and set tires on fire.
Workers of the ASWJ gathered outside the hospital.
Addressing a news conference, ASWJ leaders called for strike. They said that it was a well-planned conspiracy to create unrest in the city. SAMAA
