SHC formed board halts Australian sheep dumping

Staff Report

KARACHI: A medical examining board, formed by the Sindh High Court (SHC), has halted dumping of Australian sheep till next hearing of the court, SAMAA reports.

Australian sheep importer Tariq Butt moved Sindh High Court for justice, saying imported sheep are disease free and completely healthy.

A two-member bench led by Justice Baqar Maqbool of Sindh High Court formed a five-member medical examining board under a professor of Dow Medical University, Professor Dr. Muhammad Khanani, to check anthrax disease in Australian sheep.

Directors of the Quarantine Department and Sindh Poultry Vaccine Laboratory are also included in the board.

Sindh High Court authorized the sheep examining board to halt the elimination process if no proof of anthrax is found.

Using authorization of the SHC, the sheep examining board halted dumping process till next hearing of the case on September 24. SAMAA
