KARACHI: The ongoing violence in the city claimed 14 more lives over the past 24 hours as the city observed a shutter-down and wheel-jam strike on Tuesday, SAMAA reported.
The call for strike was given by Jamat-e-Islami against murder of its leader, Pervez Mehood, who was killed in North Nazimabad on Monday night. Parts of Karachi remained closed on Wednesday with thin traffic on roads.
Police said the targeted-killings through drive-by attacks took place in Baldia Town, Khokhrapar, Aagra Taaj, Lyari, Malir, Usman Abad and PIB Colony.
A police Sub Inspector, Mazhar Iqbal, was also among the deceased. He was targeted in Baldia Town’s Naval Colony. Two political workers were gunned down in Malir’s Gharibabad area.
Three tortured dead bodies were recovered from Lyari, Garden and Bihar Colony areas as Rangers arrested five suspected during its operation in violence-hit areas. -- SAMAA
