PRESIDENT: President Asif Ali Zardari today asked for a report about the arrest of an 11-year-old Christian girl in Islamabad on alleged charges of desecrating Holy Quran.

Taking notice of the arrest, President Zardari asked the Ministry of Interior to submit a report in this regard.

The girl, identified as Rimsha, was arrested by police from Sector G-8 of Islamabad and sent to jail.
 
According to reports, the girl was burning some old pages to prepare food. Some media reports suggested that the girl burned pages of a Noorani Qaida.

Soon after the incident, residents of the area gathered to stage a protest. They also allegedly beat up the girl and her mother. SAMAA
