Karachi: Emergency service suspended after Jinnah hospital firing

Staff Report

KARACHI: Five suspects resorted to aerial firing outside Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Hospital’s emergency ward, creating stamped in city’s largest government-run health facility, with three people injured in the incident, SAMAA reports.

Incharge of the emergency ward, Dr. Seemi Jamali said five people came along three injured and a deadbody and suddenly resorted to aerial firing outside the emergency ward, sending doctors and attendees running out of the hospital.

Three people were reportedly injured in the incident as paramedical staff suspended emergency services following the untoward incident. However, doctors remained unhurt.

“We can’t work in such a tense and insecure atmosphere. Any one of us could have been killed,” Jamali said while bemoaning insufficient security measures.

Police and Rangers arrived at the scene and arrested at least 11 suspects. -- SAMAA
