LAHORE: Separate police stations will be set up to check electricity theft in the wake of chronic power crisis in the country, Federal Water and Power Minister Ahmed Mukhtar announced on Saturday.
The decision was taken at the first meeting of energy committee of Council of Common Interests (CCI) at the Wapda House in Lahore.
Ahmed Mukhtar presided over the meeting, also attended by Federal Secretary Zafar Mahmood, provincial chief secretaries and senior officials of the water and power ministry.
The meeting also decided to seek the help of Punjab’s Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to cut down power losses from theft.
Interacting with media persons, Mukhtar said coal-based electricity generation projects could be launched. SAMAA
