ISLAMABAD: Meteorological Department Saturday said the moon of Shawwal is less likely to be sighted on August 18; hence, annual holy festival of Islam, Eidul Fitr may fall on August 20 (Monday).
According to Met Department, Shawwal moon will emerge belatedly on August 18 (Saturday); accordingly, the chances are thin that it is sighted in any part of Pakistan.
Shawwal moon is expected to be sighted in most parts of the country on August 19 (Sunday); hence, Eid day may fall on August 20 (Monday).
Met Department said the final decision regarding moon-sighting will be taken up by central and zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees in their respective meetings. SAMAA
