ISLAMABAD: The coalition partners of the PPP-led government underscored that the Parliament’s right to legislation will be protected at all costs, SAMAA reports Saturday.
It should be mentioned here that President Asif Ali Zardari yesterday chaired an important at President House attended by among others Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Haji Adeel, Farooq Sattar, Muneer Orakzai and Hameedullah Jan Afridi in their bid for fresh legislation in connection with the contempt of law.
According to Presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar, the meeting struck consensus that no compromise will be made on the Parliament’s right to legislate and this right will be safeguarded under all circumstances.
According to the spokesman, the meeting also decided to take up measures against the bhatta (extortion) mafia busy in their nefarious activities in Karachi. SAMAA
