U.S. releases $280 mln for Pakistan’s energy projects

ISLAMABAD: The U.S. Congress has released $280 million in new U.S. assistance for Pakistan’s energy sector and will support improvements to Mangla Dam.

According to the US embassy the funds will be used for infrastructure support and due diligence work on the Kurram Tangi Dam project.

The funding is the latest example of the long-term and enduring US support for Pakistan’s energy sector and for the people of Pakistan, the statement by the embassy said. SAMAA
