Don’t blame judges, says CJ in contempt case hearing

ISLAMABAD: During the hearing of contempt of court law act case on Thursday, Attorney General Irfan Qadir said that four of the judges on the bench were prejudiced.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry asked him not to blame the judges and bring proof if he had any.

A five-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and including Justice Shakirullah Jan, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, Justice Jawad S Khawaja and Justice Tassadduq Hussain Jilani, was hearing 27 identical petitions challenging the Contempt of Court Act, 2012.

The CJ said that in the constitution of 1976, there was no immunity given to anyone.

The attorney general said that with the help of the new law, the judiciary has become safer not affected. SAMAA
