'Visa racket' report: Main accused records statement

Staff Report

LAHORE: Chaudhry Abid, the main accused in fake passport scandal, recorded his statement before the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday.

In his statement, he has denied any role in the alleged visa racket, exposed by a British tabloid, The Sun, in a report earlier this week. He was also temporarily detained by the FIA.

Speaking to newsmen, he denied having any link with another man named Ali Assad.

Meanwhile, a local court extended physical remand of four accused – Fahim, Wasif, Asif and Ghaffar, workers of NADRA, for another three days. The FIA has submitted a report in the court, declaring them innocent.

It is expected that they would be released in the next hearing. SAMAA
