ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Monday said that the general elections would be held in 2013.
Speaking to newsmen here, Hussain said his party would make seat-to-seat adjustments with the PPP.
Contrary to Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s views, Justice (retd.) Fakhruddin G Ibrahim, who was unanimously nominated by the government and the opposition parties for the post of new Chief Election Commissioner on Monday, said he was not in favour of more delay in holding of elections.
“Only the Prime Minister can tell about the timing of the next elections. But more delay will be disastrous,” he said.
He said he would accept the position of the CEC as a challenge. He said that he would meet all political parties as part of his duty.
“We need to ensure free and fair elections. I will review after assuming the office why are the electoral lists not yet ready,” Ibrahim added. SAMAA
