LAHORE: Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has dispelled the impression that the ruling PPP has backtracked on its demand of South Punjab province.
Ashraf, while presiding over a meeting of PPP Parliamentary Party in Punjab at Governor House in Lahore today (Saturday), advised the MPAs to start preparations for the next general elections, which he said, were not far way.
He said that free and fair election was the topmost priority of his government.
To a question, Ashraf said the federal government is trying to contain the problem of load shedding.
The prime minister said this impression was wrong the PPP has backtracked on the issue of South Punjab.
Meanwhile, members of Punjab Assembly belonging to PPP requested the Prime Minister to allocate funds, arms licenses and job quotas.
Prime Minister Ashraf asked for one-week time to reply. SAMAA
