ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee of the Parliament has rejected Interior Ministry’s report on stolen 5,634 passports and demanded details of all civil armed forces’ expenses today, SAMAA reported on Friday.
A meeting of the PAC chaired by Yasmin Rehman reviewed Interior Ministry’s audit papers while the Interior Secretary presented a report over stolen passports, stating that total 5,634 passports had been stolen from Karachi and out of those 5,428 passports are recovered.
The PAC rejected Interior Ministry’s report and demanded a detailed report from the Interior Secretary over the issue.
Members of the committee said during the meeting that the Interior Advisor is issuing blue passports to non-governmental and illegible people; they asked the Interior Secretary to submit complete details of those people which had been issued these blue passports.
The Interior Secretary said in his reply that the Interior Minister and Secretary both can issue blue passports to any person or businessman. The committee asked him to tell under which rules and regulations they are allowed to do so. SAMAA
