LAHORE: Rawalpindi bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) granted interim bail to former federal minister of health Makhdoom Shahabuddin in ephedrine quota case.
A two-member bench consisting of Justice Aijaz Ahmed Justice Ali Baqar Najfi heard the bail plea of Makhdoom Shahab.
The petitioner was of the view that it is DG Health not the minister who has the power to sanction the chemical quota, adding he has not been named in the case.
He furthermore asserted a conspiracy was hatched to block his way to become the premier; accordingly, his plea should be granted.
Granting him interim bail till July 3, the court ordered him to submit surety bonds worth one lakh rupees. SAMAA
