ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on Tuesday ordered immediate steps to increase power generation in the wake of chronic energy crisis.
While presiding over the cabinet’s meeting for the first time after his election to the office of prime minister, Raja said that electricity connections of the government organizations, which were not paying bills, should be suspended immediately.
Water and Power Secretary told the cabinet that 2100 MW of electricity would be added to the system by July 28.
“The Parliament wants an unconditional US apology over Salala attack,” he said, voicing concerns over militants’ attack on Pakistani military posts along Afghan border.
He also invited Baloch leaders to hold unconditional talks.
In addition, the federal cabinet approved the 21th Amendment, under which pension of widows of Supreme Court and high court judges would go up by 25 percent. SAMAA
