Five more gunned down in Karachi unrest

Staff Report

KARACHI: Five more people fall prey to the ongoing violence in Karachi on Sunday at times when newly elected Prime Minister was present in the metropolis and two of PPP allies were holding mass meetings amid claims of forging peace, SAMAA reports.

Officials said six people were also injured in Sunday’s drive-by attacks.

Police found four sack-packed dead bodies from Mangho Pir, Dhobi Ghaat and Malir Saud Abad areas, with their legs and hands tied with ropes.

They said the victims were abducted before killing, and cited ethic and political rivalry as motive behind the murders.

A man, identified as Abdul Ghani, 25, was gunned down by unknown armed men outside his house in Memon Society of Lyari locality, a hub of gang war and criminal activities.

The ANP and MQM were holding separate public gatherings in the city on Sunday, claiming to bring back the peace of Karachi. -- SAMAA
