KARACHI: Famous scholar, writer and television host Obaidullah Baig passed away here on Friday.

Family sources said that his funeral prayer would be held later today after Friday prayers at the Madina Masjid near Do Talwar, Clifton.

In 2008 he was awarded the Pride of Performance medal for his achievements in the media.

Obaidullah Baig teamed up with Iftikhar Arif in 1970s and then with Ghazi Salahuddin and Quraish Pur in 1990s and won renown for the famous quiz show “Kasauti”.

He is survived by a wife and three daughters.

Baig also left very informative books behind him. One of his best works is a dictionary of environment. SAMAA

Man is mortal. Every soul must taste death.

The death of Obaidullah Baig has saddened all his fans and admirers. He was a great scholar and renowned intellectual. He was a great novelist , famous TV host and media expert.

Despite enjoying tremendous reputation, he was humble and down to earth person. Teamed up with Ghazi Salahuddin, Quresh Pur and Iftikhar Arif, he earned great name and fame through his famous TV programme "Kasuti".

He rightly won the pride of performance thanks to his marvellous achievements in the field of media.

His is an irreparable loss. May his soul rest in peace!
