Election of new PM: Zardari calls coalition partners meeting

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has called an emergency meeting of coalition partners tonight to mull over the issues relating the election of new Prime Minister, SAMAA reports Thursday.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Khurshid Shah, Talking to media here, said Makhdoom Shahabuddin is hitherto the foremost choice for the top office of premiership.

It should be mentioned here that in an unexpected turn of the events unfolding towards the election of new Prime Minister, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar-uz-Zaman Kaira has submitted his nomination papers for election of new Prime Minister at the eleventh hours just before deadline.

His nomination papers were filed after a local court in Rawalpindi issued unbailable arrest warrant for Shahabuddin in ehpedrine case.

Khurshid Shah said the meeting has been called to pick up a consensus candidate for Prime Minister. SAMAA
