RAWALPINDI: A local court issued arrest warrants of Makhdoom Shahabuddin and Ali Musa Gilani, the son of former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in ephedrine case, SAMAA reports Thursday.
Rawalpindi’s local Magistrate Shafqatullah issued the arrest warrant of Makhdoom Shahabuddin, tapped for the post of premiership.
According to sources, Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has constituted the teams for the arrest of the PPP candidate for the top post of the country.
It should be mentioned here that Shahabuddin has been alleged to have approved the unauthorized drug quotas that led to the ephedrine scandal involving former premier’s son Ali Musa Gilani.
According to the sources, however, Shahabuddin took up the ephedrine quota case himself in the National Assembly much before the issue came to the limelight.
Talking to media after filing his nomination papers on a query about his arrest warrant, Shahab slighted the matter by citing a piece of Urdu poetry—“ye to chalti hay tujhay ooncha ooranay kay liey”. SAMAA
