Staff Report
ISLAMABAD: The report submitted by the Memo Commission could not unearth any link between President Asif Ali Zardari and the memorandum, SAMAA reports Wednesday.
According to the report, American-Pakistani Businessman Mansoor Ijaz, who brought to the fore the memorandum drafted and conveyed by him to the then US Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen at the behest of former ambassador of Pakistan to the US, Hussain Haqqani, failed to convince the commission that President Zardari had prior knowledge of the memorandum.
However, Haqqani succeeded in bringing it round to Ijaz that the memo was approved by President Zardari; but, the commission did not find a single evidence that President Zardari issued any directives whatsoever for the writing of the memo.
Furthermore, Ijaz also confessed he does not have any validating proof in support of his claim, the report states in its paragraph-24.
It should be mentioned here that the report on the memo elaborates on President Zardari separately. SAMAA
