ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry Monday remarked that court will summon Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani if no one does anything to implement the judicial rulings.
The Chief Justice Chaudhry heading a three-strong bench hearing a petition on the law and order situation and human rights violations in Balochistan, expressed displeasure over the press conference conducted by Inspector General of FC Obaidullah Khatak, saying, “What is it for a general to hold press conference, as the case is entailing negative consequences.”
Spy agencies’ counsel Raja Irshad said the foreign agencies are targeting the FC and the court is doing the same.
Reacting to this, the Chief Justice Chaudhry remarked the video screened at the courtroom showed the FC’s vehicle as being involved in an abduction; under the circumstances, why the FC chief should not be considered as responsible for the activities.
Justice Jawwad S. Khwaja remarked the IG FC, in reply to the court’s query, said not a single person involved in the killing of the FC personnel, has been arrested, adding the court is not an enemy of the paramilitary force.
The Chief Justice Chaudhry said the court will give credit to the FC if it captures as many as five people involved in the killings. He added every other case filed here implicates the FC.
On this, Irshad pleaded the court to withdraw the FC from Balochistan.
During the hearing, the Attorney General of Pakistan Irfan Qadir presented a performance report regarding the missing persons of Balochistan.
According to the report, 76 new cases of missing persons surfaced; these cases were filed at the SC’s Quetta Registry.
The reports says 100 cases are currently being probed into with 23 missing persons recovered thus far. SAMAA
