MQM rejects new CNG tax

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has rejected the new tax imposed on compressed natural gas (CNG).

Addressing a news conference here on Saturday, MQM leader Hyder Abbas Rizvi said new six is an indirect tax, which is condemnable.

“The rate of direct and indirect tax should be 50 percent each,” he said.

The MQM leader called for reduction of bank discount rate from 12 percent to 10 percent.

He said that his party did not use the option of protest as it gives the government a walkover.

Rizvi added his party had advised the government to save Rs1200 billion by improving the governance. SAMAA
