Punjab traders launch protest drive against chronic power cuts

Staff Report

LAHORE: Traders announced Sunday that they would embark on a protest movement across the Punjab against the crippling power crisis.

Addressing a news conference, Khawaja Shafiq, the central chairman of Pakistan Trade Unions, said protest rallies would be held on June 16 in all district headquarters against the power load shedding.

He announced that there would be complete shutter-down strike on June 23 in the province.

He said that traders would surround the Parliament House if power crisis was not resolved by that time.

They also expressed reservations on Property and Professional Taxes. SAMAA
