KARACHI: Sugar price has mounted by one rupee per kilogram in whole sale market of Karachi today, SAMAA reported on Thursday.

A little relief has been given by the government in petroleum products prices but sugar’s price has surged before the budget in whole sale market this day.

According to the sugar dealers, the government has decided to increase sales tax on sugar from 8.5 percent to 16 percent in the next fiscal budget which will cause Rs. 10 per kg increase in sugar price.

Earlier today, the whole sale price of sugar surged to Rs. 51 per kilogram after one rupee’s increase while 50 kilograms’ sugar bag’s price mounted to Rs. 2550 per bag. SAMAA
