Staff Report

KARACHI: Four people, including a Rangers man, were killed in different incidents of violence and target-killing in last 12 hours, SAMAA reports Thursday.

The renewed wave of drive-by assaults continued in the metropolis, claiming 13 lives in 24 hours, sparking panic in various localities, with business activities suspended.

Police said Abdul Hameed Chachar, the Rangers sub-inspector, was gunned down early morning by unknown bikers outside his home at Korangi area on Thursday.

In a similar incident, a man was shot dead in Maripur locality of the city.

Two people were killed in Lea Market and Zaman Town, Korangi, in firing incidents overnight.

Some nine people were reported killed, including a political worker, on Wednesday alone, creating chaos in the city, prompting the police to escalate patrolling and snap checking.

President Asif Ali Zardari has called a high-level meeting in Chief Minister House today to review law and order situation in the violence-ridden capital of Sindh. -- SAMAA
