South Korea thrash Pakistan in Azlan Shah Cup

Staff Report

LAHORE: Pakistan suffered a humiliating defeat (4-0) from South Korea in a match of Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament in IPOH, Malaysia, today (Monday).

It was a forgettable day for the Green Shirts, which wasted several solid chances of scoring goals.

Famed penalty corner specialist and skipper Sohail Abbas also failed to capitalize on four penalty corners, Pakistan got in the match. He failed to convert any of these opportunities into  goals. This was Pakistan’s second defeat in a row in two days.

On Sunday, New Zealand beat Abbas' men by 3-1.

Pakistan registered its lone win of the tournament against Argentine in the opening match.

In other matches of the day, Argentine managed to beat Britain 3-2 while India also overpowered host Malaysia 3-2. SAMAA
