ISLAMABAD: The Awami National Party (ANP) on Thursday moved Adjournment Motion in the Senate over law and order situation in Karachi, SAMAA reports.
The motion was submitted by ANP senators Afrasiab Khatak, Haji Adeel, Zahid Khan and Shahi Syed.
At least eleven people were killed and more than 30 wounded on Tuesday after unidentified gunmen opened fire at a rally organised by Awami Tehrik (AT) and backed by several other parties in protest against proposed Mohajir province and the recent operation in Lyari.
Subsequently, violence erupted in the city, with more than a dozen vehicles torched in different areas, prompting the AT and other nationalist groups to observe strike in Sindh on Wednesday.
In its motion, the ANP was of the view that Senate chairman should put off other proceedings of the house and allow a debate over the ongoing violence in Karachi.
The Senate session has been summoned on June 1st. -- SAMAA
