KARACHI: Awami Tehrik announced Tuesday that it would observe a day of mourning and strike across Sindh on Wednesday.
Participants of the rally chanted slogans against the demands to form a South Province.
Sindh’s nationalist party Awami Tehrik took out a Mohabbat Sindh rally from Karachi’s Lyari.
The objective of the rally was to raise its voice against the possible partition of Sindh and Lyari operation.
When the participants of the rally reached Napier Road, intense firing began, forcing protesters to disperse. However, rally’s leaders staged a sit-in on MA Jinnah.
After staging a sit-in for about one hour, participants headed to press club amid police security.
Addressing a press conference after the protest, AT leader Ayaz Palejo said that their peaceful rally came under attack. He said that a complete strike would be observed against the killings.
He accused ruling parties of launching terrorism. SAMAA
